Esteyco has officially presented its WHEEL floating offshore wind project at the Port of Las Palmas in Canarias, where construction of the floating foundation for the 6 MW demonstrator is already underway.
The WHEEL technology has been developed by Esteyco for the floating offshore wind market. The project marks the transition from design to full-scale execution and highlights the industrial and logistical role of Canarias in offshore wind development.
The international consortium behind the project includes Rover Grupo, Zamakona Yards, Bekaert, Vicinay Sestao, Cemex, Plataforma Oceánica de Canarias, IHCantabria, 2-B Energy, CoreMarine, EnBW Sverige, CINEA and J-POWER.
The project is also supported by local institutions including Puertos de Las Palmas, the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and the regional government of Canarias.
WHEEL is supported by the European Commission through the Horizon Europe programme under Project ID 101084409.
