Windcat has ordered a new Multi-Purpose Accommodation Support Vessel (MP-ASV) from Damen Shipyards Group, with options for five additional units. The Innovation Series vessels will provide extended offshore support through a large open deck, subsea crane and expanded accommodation capacity.
The design builds on earlier cooperation between Damen and Windcat on the Elevation Series commissioning service vessels. The new MP-ASVs measure 102 metres by 20 metres and offer 750 square metres of deck space, a 150-tonne subsea crane and facilities for launching and recovering remotely operated vehicles.
Each vessel will incorporate a large battery pack to reduce emissions and enable efficient engine use during dynamic positioning. The design also includes dual-fuel capability for hydrogen use.
Accommodation capacity will reach up to 190 persons for extended offshore periods, supported by a motion-compensated gangway for safe access to offshore structures. The DP2+ system provides additional redundancy through multiple thrusters.
Construction of the first vessel is scheduled to begin in February 2026 at the Ha Long Shipyard in Vietnam, with delivery planned for 2028.
