Stillstrom, by Maersk, is preparing to deploy its offshore vessel charging solutions commercially in the UK and is establishing a dedicated entity in Aberdeen following seven years of development and collaboration with North Sea shipowners, suppliers and regulators.
Since 2019, Stillstrom has been developing charging systems for service operations vessels (SOVs), which are among the most energy-intensive ships operating at offshore wind farms. Testing and collaboration with fleet owners and developers in Aberdeen have progressed, and the company is now in discussions with several offshore wind projects while also signing partnership and compatibility agreements with SOV owner-operators.
Graeme Wood has joined Stillstrom as UK Managing Director. He has more than 40 years of maritime and engineering experience and has previously held board positions with Rever Offshore, Bibby Hydromap, Bibby Subsea and Vroon Offshore Services, as well as senior roles at ACE Winches, Aker Qserv and Technip.
Wood has supported the development of Stillstrom’s integrated charging systems as a consultant for the past four years and will now lead the company’s commercial rollout in the UK.
