Flender has started operating its new location in Brazil, strengthening its presence and service capabilities in South America, particularly in the wind energy sector. The development follows the acquisition of the service business for wind turbine and related industrial gear units from Wärtsilä Brasil.
As part of the transaction, the gear unit service activities, including a workshop in Cabo de Santo Agostinho, around 35 km south of Recife, have been transferred to Flender.
The facility, opened in 2022, covers 5,000 square metres and includes testing capabilities for wind turbine gear units in current power classes. Flender is also assessing further upgrades, such as enhanced test bench and lifting capacity, to support larger and next-generation wind turbine drivetrains in South America.
The agreement was signed on 18 August 2025. Following final approval from Brazil’s competition authority, Administrative Council for Economic Defense, the transaction has now been completed.
