Avincis, a European emergency aerial services operator, has entered the offshore wind sector through the acquisition of Denmark-based KN Helicopters. KN Helicopters has provided helicopter services to offshore wind projects since 2016, working under contract with wind farm owners and operators.
The company will continue to be led by CEO Niels Peter Kjeldahl following the acquisition. The deal gives Avincis a foothold in the offshore wind market as part of its strategy to diversify services and expand into new regions. KN Helicopters operates three Airbus H135 and one Airbus H145 helicopters, which will join the Avincis fleet of more than 60 Airbus aircraft. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
