DeTect, Inc. has announced that it has received a US$ 549,000 order from Turkey’s largest power company, The Zorlu Energy Group, to supply and support a Merlin Avian Radar System for Phase 1 of its Bahce Wind Farm in southern Turkey.
The bird radar system will include DeTect’s Merlin Scada software that allows the Merlin Avian Radar System to function as an "early warning" system providing advance detection of birds approaching the wind farm under conditions where the operational turbines could pose risk to the birds. When such conditions are detected, the Merlin system automatically initiates risk mitigation response actions up to and including idling of wind turbines until the birds pass by the wind farm. Merlin is a self-contained ornithological radar system developed by DeTect that includes unique bird and bat detection and tracking software and solid state Doppler radar technology.
