LS Mtron announced that it has signed a license agreement to use ultracapacitors for blade pitch control units in January 2010, with Enercon GmbH.
This patent license agreement grants wind turbine manufacturers the
rights to use an ultracapacitor as the uninterruptible power source of
a wind turbine, which employs an electrical pitch control system.
Through this agreement, wind turbine manufacturers can use LS Mtron
ultracapacitors for their blade pitch control systems according to
their own needs, and do not have to worry about patent infringement.
