Construction has started on two new transmission lines in Western Australia as part of the Clean Energy Link – North (CEL-North) project, which will connect renewable energy generated in the Mid West to the Perth metropolitan area. The project is expected to create more than 400 jobs during construction and is scheduled for completion by mid-2027.

The works include a 6 km, 132 kV transmission line between the Padbury and Wangara substations, and a 5 km, 132 kV line linking the Northern Terminal and Henley Brook substation. Contractor Acciona is carrying out the construction. Once completed, Clean Energy Link – North will enable the connection and transmission of more than 1 GW of onshore wind capacity from the Mid West to homes and businesses across Perth.
