Airtricity confirmed that it was selected as preferred bidder to develop a 100MW wind farm on Welsh Assembly Government land. Airtricity was one of three developers to be invited to develop on land managed by Forestry Commission Wales.

The Company intends to develop the site known as "Area D" which has the capacity to develop a wind farm of approximately 100MW, subject to Planning Permission. The next stage of the process involves signing of the Option Agreement with the Welsh Assembly Government which is hoped to be completed in December. Once signing has been completed, Airtricity will prepare an Environmental Impact Statement, hold local consultation meetings and will submit the project into planning. The final stage is the signing of a development lease with the Welsh Assembly Government once planning permission has been received.
