EDP Renewables auctions transformers and cabling from cancelled wind projects in ColombiaEDP Renewables is auctioning new transformers and associated electrical equipment from its halted wind projects in La Guajira and Cartagena, Colombia. The public auction, managed through the Escrapalia portal (part of Surus Group), includes unused, high-capacity components intended for wind farms and other energy infrastructure.

Equipment on offer includes 30 current transformers (500 kV), four 500/34.5 kV transformers, two 350 kVA auxiliary service transformers, two 34.5 kV grounding choke units, three 500 kV inductive voltage transformers, and six shunt reactors rated at 23 MVar, 500 kV.

In addition, various types of electrical cabling are available:

  • 9 coils of bare copper cable (CU EN 60228 CL.2 CU-ETP, 50 mm²), totalling approximately 50,000 metres
  • 57 coils of aluminium cable (NA2XS2Y(F), 35 kV, 500 kcmil), 62,025 metres
  • 44 coils of fibre optic cable (LSZH GYXTH68 12G.652D), 154,600 metres
  • 119 coils of aluminium cable (NA2XS2Y(F), 35 kV, 800 kcmil), 97,714 metres
  • 351 coils of aluminium cable (NA2XS2Y(F), 35 kV, 1250 kcmil/630 mm²), totalling 265,060 metres

All items are new and will be sold in lots starting at €150. Bids can be submitted until 14 May, and the highest bidder for each lot will be awarded the equipment.

These components were originally purchased for wind projects in La Guajira but could not be installed due to unresolved regulatory issues. In April, EDP Renewables also auctioned 90 unused Vestas V162-5.6 MW wind turbines from its projects in Puerto Brisa and Cartagena.
