The Net Zero Technology Centre has opened applications for its TechX accelerator, aimed at early-stage companies developing technologies that support net zero, attract investment and create jobs. Now in its eighth year, the Aberdeen-based programme offers tailored support, industry access and mentoring over a 14-week period.
The accelerator will provide up to £50,000 in funding to each of ten selected companies, alongside expert guidance and access to investors, customers, technical specialists and business mentors. Applications close on 5 January 2026. Eligibility and participation requirements:
- Designed for pre-commercial startups at Technology Readiness Level 3–6
- Solution must fall within scope and be intended for deployment in the UK
- Technology must be fully owned by the startup
- At least one team member must commit to full participation in the 14-week programme
- Involves three in-person weeks in the UK, regular online workshops in the GMT time zone, and availability Monday to Thursday throughout the programme
TechX supports companies working in areas such as carbon capture, renewables and grid solutions, hydrogen and alternative fuels, and industrial decarbonisation. Technologies backed to date include energy storage, novel electrolysers, digital monitoring and autonomous vessels. Since 2018, the programme has supported 81 startups, with 90 per cent still active.
