The House Natural Resources Committee has approved the Standardizing Permitting and Expediting Economic Development Act (SPEED Act) in a 25-18 vote. The legislation is designed to reform the permitting process for energy infrastructure projects across the USA.
The Act sets out milestones throughout permitting to provide greater certainty and accountability for developers and applies to all types of energy projects, including solar, wind, storage, natural gas, petroleum, geothermal, hydro, and advanced nuclear. The SPEED Act aims to accelerate project development and support investment in energy infrastructure.
