Marubeni Corp. will build two offshore wind farms with a combined capacity of 145MW in the northern prefecture of Akita.
Marubeni will build a 65MW wind farm near the Akita port and a 80MW wind farm near the Noshiro port. The wind farms are expected to begin operations as soon as 2021. The Japanese government implemented a higher, separate tariff for offshore wind projects last year to encourage growth.
