The US House of Representatives has approved a one-year extension to the production tax credit (PTC). The extension will allow US projects that began construction activities in 2014 to apply for the credit.
It gives producers of wind power a $0.023/kWh incentive. The House of Representatives voted 378-46 in favor of the one-year extenders package and sent the legislation to the US Senate. The American Wind Energy Association has asked the Senate to reconsider extending the wind energy Production Tax Credit through the end of 2014 in favor of a multiyear extension. "A three-week extension kills jobs and provides businesses little ability to create the jobs we want to create," AWEA CEO Tom Kiernan said in a statement.
