The Renewables Consulting Group has appointed former SSE man Gareth Lewis as a director and member of its global management committee. Lewis is a qualified marine biologist, underwater technologist, commercial diver and yachtmaster with 24 years’ experience of renewable energy projects.
His most recent role was representing SSE as head of offshore development in the Forewind Consortium, a joint venture of SSE, RWE, Statoil and Statkraft. Other roles include project director for Seagreen Wind Energy Limited, a joint venture between SSE and Fluor for the Firth of Forth projects, and project director for Brims Tidal Array Ltd, a joint venture between SSE and Open Hydro for the tidal array scheme in the Pentland Firth Orkney Islands. Before joining SSE, Lewis was head of technical services for EDF Energy Renewables and was part of the team that secured consent for the Teesside offshore wind farm. He will be based at the company’s London headquarters.
