Bigger, higher, stronger - what applies to sport also applies to the wind industry. Greater hub heights, larger rotors and more powerful generators – and the resource assessment and wind measurement have to keep pace with this incredible progress. Thus, GEO-NET has built a new 200 m wind measurement mast for the performance verification of LiDAR and SoDAR, called remote sensing devices, near Hanover. The location is particularly suitable for verification due to its location, as it is almost free of significant obstacles like wind parks and allows representative verification even for onshore sites and the large hub heights of current wind turbines. The good wind conditions ensure that the verification can be carried out quickly.
