Van Oord has been awarded the contract for cable installation works at the Borssele I & II offshore wind farm. The wind farm has a capacity of 752 MW and will be located 23 km off the coast of Zeeland, the Netherlands.
Van Oord is responsible for the transportation, installation and burial of the 94 inter array cables with a total length of 167 km. Van Oord will deploy its cable-laying vessel Nexus for the installation of the cables. Trencher Dig-It will bury the cables to the required depth of 2 metres. Construction of the offshore wind farm is scheduled for 2020.
