Aveillant, the developer of 3D Holographic Radar, has installed a trial system in north Kent, England, to demonstrate its ability to mitigate wind turbine clutter from an offshore wind farm.

The Holographic Radar not only successfully identified and removed the offshore wind turbines from the display but it was also able to remove sea clutter, creating a clear airspace display. 3D Holographic Radar has already been assessed and proven at two test sites in Scotland, where it was integrated with Primary Surveillance Radar, and it has been independently verified to have a Probability of Detection (PD) of more than 99% over the wind farm. It has also proved to be a robust solution, remaining in operation during recent strong winds of 90+mph.
