GE has cancelled its plan to build a factory making offshore wind turbine blades in Teesside, in northeast England. According to a company spokesperson, the decision was made because the company doesn’t have enough orders to justify the facility.

The facility was scheduled to start producing blades for offshore turbines next year. Currently, GE is making the core part of its Haliade offshore turbine at its factory in Saint-Nazaire, France. Last year, GE said the new factory would create as many as 750 jobs. News of the cancellation of the factory plan was earlier reported by Bloomberg.
