The Spanish Energy and Environment Ministry has announced plans to install floating wind turbines off its coasts with a total capacity between 1 and 3GW by 2030.

In recognition of the higher cost of building floating wind farms, Spain would provide up to € 200 million for research and development. The proposals are open for public consultation over the coming month.
