Wind turbines. Will noise stop the growth? Print E-mail
Wednesday, 16 March 2005
Renewable energy targets demand a challenging increase in wind turbine capacity over the next 10–15 years, but current experience puts noise above visual effects as factors that delay, and may even stop, the progress of new installations. The first international conference on wind turbine noise will be held in Berlin on 17 and 18 October 2005. The full title ‘Wind Turbine Noise: Perspectives for Control’ sets the theme of the groundbreaking conference squarely in this main problem area. The conference will act as a forum in which information on noise can be shared between noise specialists, manufacturers, planners and developers, all of whom are invited to offer papers or attend as delegates. Organised by INCE/Europe, a Member of the International Institute of Noise Control Engineering (I-INCE) and a Sustaining Member of the European Acoustics Association (EAA), the conference will bring together the latest information on noise and vibration from wind turbines, to give an unbiased framework from within which future developments can be assessed.
