Nordex commencing work on extensions to facilities Print E-mail
Wednesday, 30 January 2008

Work has now commenced on extensions to its Rostock facilities in a project worth € 86 million. Over the next two years, new production halls with a total floor area of more than 52,500 square meters will be built at the cargo centre.

In this way, the wind turbine manufacturer will be increasing its capacity for Europe threefold. In a first step, Nordex will be extending its annual rotor blade production to around 1,000MW. For this purpose, a new finishing hall will be completed by the end of the year, accompanied by extensions to the existing production facility to double the existing floor area. This will ensure that in the future it will also be possible for rotor blades with a length of over 50 meters to be produced. Nordex will then be commencing on the second phase of the project in May entailing the construction of a new turbine assembly and control cabinet plant with a floor area of around 25,600 square meters together with a new administration and service building on the site. Nordex will be creating at least 300 new jobs in connection with the extensions to its facilities in Rostock.
