REpower supplies first megawatt turbines to China Print E-mail
Tuesday, 10 May 2005
REpower Systems AG has signed a supply agreement with its Chinese licence partner, Dongfang Steam Turbine Works (DFSTW), for their first joint project in China. By the end of the year, seven wind energy turbines of the 1.5MW class are to be erected in Chinese Rongcheng (Shandong Province).
The seven MD70-type turbines will be manufactured at the German production site in Husum before being shipped to China. Some of the components, such as the towers and rotor blades, will be provided by China-based suppliers. It is planned to gradually involve additional local suppliers. The Dongfang Group, based in Chengdu (Sichuan Province), is a manufacturer of steam and gas turbines with 35,000 employees. The licence agreement between Dongfang and REpower Systems AG was signed in November 2004. Awarding the licence to its renowned partner ensures that the REpower turbines will also meet the demand for high quality in China.
