The FOWIND consortium has launched its latest reports, the "Feasibility Study for Offshore Wind Farm Development in Gujarat And Tamil Nadu". The two reports are the final step towards laying out the roadmap for the offshore wind sector in India by the GWEC led FOWIND (Facilitating Offshore Wind In India) consortium.

The European Commission today published plans to help finance sustainable growth. These could help re-direct capital from conventional power plants to wind energy. The Commission will propose draft legislation to create a checklist of green investments and financing activities. Regulators would then use this checklist to encourage banks to finance green projects, e.g. by easing capital requirements or having a label for sustainable financial products.

With the launch of the Wind Project Development Roadmap report Ethiopia and Denmark are joining forces for large scale expansion of wind energy in East Africa. The report is a part of the Danish-Ethiopian cooperation on utilising Ethiopia’s wind energy potential through the Accelerated Wind Power Generation in Ethiopia (AWPGE) programme.

Costs have fallen in the latest French onshore windenergy tender, according to the results released by the French Government. 22 projects totalling 508 MW have won the tender. The weighted average winning price was €65 MW/h.

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) has released the latest request for proposals under the Competitiveness Improvement Project (CIP) for distributed wind energy. The CIP, supported by the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Wind Energy Technologies Office, aims to facilitate the development of next-generation, US manufactured small and mid-size wind turbine technology by awarding cost shared contracts for system design optimization, advanced manufacturing, and turbine testing.
