Iberdrola has awarded an order for the wind turbines for two Mexican wind farms to Gamesa. The farms named Pier IV and Santiago Eólico will be built over the next few years. These two wind power projects account for 325,5MW of installed capacity. Iberdrola has recently been selected for these projects through long-term contracts (PPAs) with private industrial customers, which Iberdrola will provide power to.

The first contract provides for the installation and start-up of 84 turbines, G114-2,625MW (220.5MW) model, at the Pier IV wind farm in Puebla. The wind turbines are scheduled for delivery in early 2018 and the farm's start-up date is March 2019. The second agreement allows for the supply of 50 G114-2.1MW (105MW) turbines at the Santiago Eólico wind farm in the Mexican state of Guanajuato. In this case, the wind turbines will be installed in the second half of 2018 and the wind farm will begin operations in April 2019.
