TECO and China Steel Machinery Corp. (CSMC) have established the joint venture 'Offshore Turbine Manufacturing Corp. for the development and manufacturing of offshore wind turbines.
The turbines will incorporated TECO's technology for wind turbines and electric machinery and CSMC's technology for steel structures, plus wind-turbine technology acquired from Europe. The wind turbines are initially meant for the East Asian and North American markets. The JV plans to install a trial model of a 5MW direct drive wind turbine by the end of this year.
