SunEdison has announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire 100 per cent of Globeleq Mesoamerica Energy (GME), a Central American renewable energy company.
SunEdison will acquire a 70 per cent interest in GME from Actis, a global pan-emerging market private equity investor focused on the energy sector, and a 30 per cent interest from Mesoamerica Power Limited. Through the acquisition, SunEdison will acquire GME's portfolio consisting of four operating wind power plants with a capacity of 243MW, and a solar power plant with a capacity of 82MW located in Costa Rica, Honduras and Nicaragua; 80MW of wind farms entering construction in Costa Rica; and a pipeline of 246MW of wind under development in various countries across Central America.
SunEdison also has announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Continuum Wind Energy Limited (Singapore) with assets in India. Continuum owns and operates 242MW of wind power plants in Maharashtra and Gujarat states, as well as 170MW of wind power under construction in Madhya Pradesh state, and has more than 1,000MW of wind power plants in development across six states in India. SunEdison intends to place the power plants on the operational call rights list for TerraForm Global. Operation and maintenance of the wind power plants will be performed by SunEdison Services. Both agreements were signed June 12, 2015 with closing expected in the third quarter of 2015, subject to regulatory approvals, third-party consents and customary closing conditions.
