The USA added 1,254MW in the first three quarters of 2014 from a total of 19 new projects, the American Wind Energy Association announced.
There are currently 105 projects with more than 13,600MW under construction across 21 states in the USA. AWEA attributed the recent decline in wind installations to uncertainty over the Production Tax Credit, which has expired. AWEA CEO Tom Kiernan said he is optimistic that Congress will continue the success story of the renewable energy Production Tax Credit. The American Wind Energy Association expects a strong finish to the year and stepped-up installations in 2015.
