WEG aims to capture a large piece of the Brazilian wind market starting with the introduction of its 2.1MW turbine.
WEG commissioned Pontis to audit the entire rotor blade development project for the WEG 2.1 MW turbine. The Pontis team assisted WEG in establishing their rotor blade production line and implementing a quality system. The review of blade design and moulds, risk assessment, planning control, testing standards and criteria, logistics support and on site manufacturing support fell within the scope of the project. The prototype set including a test blade has been signed-off and the production line is now fully operational. Shortly the first 11 sets will find their way to the first Brazilian wind farm equipped with WEG turbines.
