Together with industry partner FORCE Technology, LORC is setting up a centre to test components and substructures for the offshore wind industry.
In the initial phase, LORC Component & Substructure Testing will build a strong floor where components as foundations for offshore turbines can be tested mechanically. Another feature of the test centre will be a climatic chamber where components and systems can be tested under extreme climatic and environmental conditions. The centre has also the ambition to build an outdoor test site for full scale testing of offshore wind turbine foundations. LORC Component & Substructure Testing will be set up during 2014 and be completed by mid-2015.
