Voltalia and Acciona Windpower have signed a contract for the supply of turbines with a capacity of 210MW for two of Voltalia's wind farms in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Norte.

The agreement covers the supply of seventy AW 3000 turbines with 3MW capacity each. The two wind farms are Sao Miguel do Gostoso (120MW) and Areia Branca (90MW). Construction at the Sao Miguel do Gostoso and Areia Branca sites will effectively begin in Q3 2013, with electricity generation to start progressively in 2014 and 2015. The supply agreement includes 41 wind turbines AW 116/3000, with a rotor diameter of 116 metres and 29 units of the AW 125/3000 with 125-metres rotor diameter. The 70 wind turbines will be installed on 120-meter-high concrete towers manufactured using a system of construction "on site". The contract comprises delivery, transportation, installation and commissioning of the turbines, as well as a long term service and maintenance agreement.
