Gill Instruments has extended the capabilities of its range of ultrasonic wind sensors with the launch of the WindObserver70 and WindObserver75.

Both sensors are available with an optional high-power heating system allowing operation in temperatures down to -55°C. WindObserver70 is capable of monitoring wind speeds up to 70m/s and is recommended for use in aviation, wind turbine and ship dynamic positioning applications and has been accepted for service by the FAA and CAA for the observation and reporting of surface wind. WindObserver75 is capable of monitoring higher wind speeds up to 75m/s and is recommended for extreme operating conditions, including weather monitoring in high altitude mountainous regions and the Arctic and Antarctic.
