Fuhrländer has acquired a majority interest in W2E Wind to Energy GmbH (W2E). The parties have agreed not to disclose the commercial terms of the transaction.
The companies have been working together for 10 years. A highpoint of this cooperation was the successful launch of a 2.5MW turbine with up to 103 meter rotor diameter and hub heights of 85 to 160 meters. Multiple prototypes of 2 MW wind turbines with 93-meter rotors were also installed, certified and evaluated in Germany. Since 2011 both companies have been working on the construction of several prototypes of a 3MW class turbine planned for installation this year. The turbine has a rotor diameter of 120 meters and will be initially installed on tubular towers with a hub height of 105 meters and later will be available on 140 meter hybrid towers.
