EU Offshore Wind Power Shows Solid Growth
EWEA OFFSHORE 2011 will be held in Amsterdam from 29 November till 1 December. The first conference was held in Berlin and the next one followed in Stockholm, in 2009. The 2011 meeting is expected to attract over 7,500 professionals, which includes senior experts, global offshore players, and companies active in offshore wind and its related industries. Around 300 companies from both current and future offshore wind supply chains will be exhibiting their goods and services.{access view=!registered}Only logged in users can view the full text of the article.{/access}{access view=registered}The offshore wind energy statistics for the first half year of 2011 showed a 4.5% increase in installations of offshore capacity compared to the first half of 2010. Eleven offshore wind farms, worth some € 8.5 billion and with a total capacity of 2,844MW, are currently under construction in European waters. The size of the installed offshore wind turbines averaged 3.4MW, up from an average of 2.9MW during the first half of 2010. A total of 101 new offshore wind turbines, with a capacity of 348MW, were connected to the power grids in the UK, Germany and Norway during the first six months of 2011.
EWEA OFFSHORE 2011 will also see the publication of a new EWEA report on offshore wind power: a compilation of all the valuable information needed to create the 150GW of offshore generating capacity planned to be in place by 2030. This will provide the professionals attending the conference with a detailed ‘state of the industry’ summary for every aspect of the wind industry (from the policy framework after 2020 and grids financing, to supply chain evolution and power production).
