RenewableUK has welcomed the announcement from the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) on the appointment of RenewableUK’s Chairman Andrew Jamieson as head of the new industry-led offshore wind taskforce.
DECC committed to establishing the Offshore Wind Cost Reduction Task Force in the Renewables Roadmap published in July this year. The industry led group, which will also involve the Government and The Crown Estate, will set out a path and actions for bringing down the levelised cost of electricity from offshore wind to GBP 100 per megawatt hour (MWh).
