REpowerSystems AG has completed erection of the first wind farm consisting exclusively of REpower 6M turbines.
The three turbines, installed in the Westre civic wind farm close to the German-Danish border, each have 6MW rated power and a rotor diameter of 126 metres. The new turbine is developed by REpower engineers for offshore deployment at a later stage and assembled at the company's manufacturing centre in Bremerhaven. In the Westre civic wind farm, the first three turbines of this type are to be tested extensively for offshore operation and will also be subjected to a type certification.
