Duke Energy Indiana has finalised an agreement to purchase up to 100MW of wind-generated electricity from a wind farm Orion Energy LLC is developing in Benton County, Indiana, USA.
The 20-year agreement is the first significant, long-term purchase of wind power in Indiana. It is the result of a request for proposals for green energy resources that was issued late last year by PSI Energy, before it became part of Duke Energy. Specific terms of the agreement have not been disclosed. Orion Energy expects to have its wind energy project in Benton County's York and Richland townships operational by late next year.
