Construction is commencing this month on an extension to the existing Altahullion wind farm, Dungiven and on a new wind farm at Lough Hill wind farm, Drumquin, Northern Ireland.

The two projects have been developed by Wind Farm Developments Ltd of Larne. The extension will add a further nine new 1.3MW Siemens turbines, the same as those in the original wind farm. Work is beginning this month on the tracks and foundations for the new turbines. The Lough Hill wind farm is south of Lough Lee and north of Lough Braden Forest, between Killen and Drumquin. It will consist of six Siemens 1.3MW turbines, site tracks, substation and an independent meteorological mast. Both projects will be built by RES Construction Ltd., using local company WH Alexander Construction Ltd of Omagh to undertake all the civil works. Both projects will be owned by RES Gen Ltd., part of the Sir Robert McAlpine group of companies.
