Hydro Energy Services Inc. (TH Energy) has officially received final approval from the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources to build a wind research platform (anemometer) in Lake Ontario, approximately 1.2 km offshore.

The anemometer will provide factual information about the wind resource in this area, measuring wind speed and direction at heights between 5m to 150m using a LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) device. The research study will be conducted for approximately two years and the collected wind data along with other important factors will help determine whether an offshore wind project is economically viable. TH Energy will provide updates on a quarterly basis.
