Watson Farley & Williams (WFW) has advised AvenHexicon, a joint venture 50-50 owned by Hexicon and renewables developer Avapa Energy, on grid and maritime concession applications for five floating offshore wind farms off the coasts of Sicily, Sardinia and Puglia, Italy.

Italian authorities have published the joint venture's application for its first maritime concession (which enables private companies to use state-owned marine areas) regarding a 1,200 MW wind farm in southern Sicily. The publication of the application for third-party comments is one of the first steps in the approval procedure. The WFW Italy Energy team that advised AvenHexicon was led by WFW Italy Head Eugenio Tranchino and Partner Tiziana Manenti, assisted by Associates Cesare Fossati and Antimo Nersita, and Trainee Maria Concetta Molica.
