The Danish Energy Agency has approved the feasibility study report for the Frederikshavn Offshore Wind Farm, which consists of an environmental impact report.
The Danish Energy Agency's approval of the feasibility study report does not give the project developer, Frederikshavn OWF (European Energy) the right to build the offshore wind farm, but it gives Frederikshavn OWF the opportunity to proceed to the next steps in the application process, including applying for an establishment permit. The project includes the installation of up to 5 offshore wind turbines with an installed capacity of between 21.6-72MW within an area of approximately 5.5 km2. The individual turbines will have a maximum height of 265 m. The location of the project is approximately 4.5 km east of Frederikshavn Harbor and the distance to the coast is approximately 4 km.
The Danish Energy Agency will only take a final decision on whether an establishment permit can be granted for the project once a public consultation of the environmental impact report has been carried out. It is expected that European Energy will send the environmental impact report for the project for consultation at the end of May (week 21), and that a citizens' meeting on the project will be held on 2 June 2022 at 19.00 in the Musical House in Frederikshavn.
