DolWin4 and BorWin4 connect North Sea wind farms in areas 3 and 6 with the onshore transmission grid. For this purpose, around 60 and 125 kilometers of submarine cables and around 155 kilometers of low-loss direct current underground cables will be installed.
For both projects it is necessary to set up a converter platform in the North Sea near the wind farms. Amprion has now started a private bidding process for the awarding of all converter systems including optional maintenance services and cables. This process will take around a year. First, the invited bidders will develop their offers – for both systems combined in order to be able to use synergies. The order is expected to be awarded by summer 2022.
