He replaces former member André Horbach, who retired from office on 6?June 2008. Dr Christof Maria Fritzen holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree, which he obtained in 1974 at Columbia University, New York. He gathered extensive legal experience abroad through posts in New York, Rio de Janeiro and Brussels with international law firm Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton and has subsequently held various posts in the commercial and investment banking sectors. Most recently, he headed the general secretariat at Deutsche Bank from 2002 to 2008.
