The first LTW42 turbine, manufactured by Leitwind, has been installed in Steinfeld, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. The installation is a collaboration between the Leitner group and E.ON. By the end of 2020 a further 49 LTW42 wind turbines will be installed by the partners.
The 250kW turbine uses the Leitwind DirectDrive technology and has a tower height of 28 metres which allows a simplified authorisation process and an installation closer to buildings compared to conventional wind turbine generators. The turbine is compatible to grids of low-voltage at 400V and can be directly connected to the distribution unit of the customer so the customer can self-consume the major part of the produced energy without being dependent on intermediary distributors and without being exposed to the varying feed in tariffs of the energy market.
