The French government has announced plans to triple its onshore wind power capacity by 2030 and multiply by five its solar power generation. Offshore wind will also be further developed, with four new tenders coming up.
The country wants to increase the share of renewables in its energy mix to 40%. The French government will increase renewables spending from the current € 5 billion per year to €7 billion - 8 billion. In his speech President Macron, confirmed that the share of nuclear energy will be capped at 50%, but said this will happen 10 years later than previously planned. He said having this goal reached by 2025 would not be possible, so the deadline has been postponed to 2035. Total of 14 reactors of 900MW will be shut down by then.
