Rosatom subsidiary, Novawind, and Dutch wind turbine manufacturer Lagerwey have created a new joint venture, ‘RedWind’ to accelerate development of a wind power energy in Russia. The new joint venture, will draw on Lagerwey technology and will localise production for the Russian market using Novawind’s supply chain and project delivery expertise.
The agreement was signed by Alexander Korchagin, CEO of NovaWind, and Huib Morelisse, CEO of Lagerwey. It builds on the License Agreement between these companies signed earlier this year in Moscow. Emin Askerov, current deputy director general of NovaWind, has been appointed as CEO of the joint venture. Sjoerd Sieburgh Sjoerdsma from Lagerwey has been appointed as managing director. The rest of the management team for RedWind will be created from other experienced international industry experts and will be appointed soon. RedWind’s mission is the marketing, sales and delivery of turn-key wind turbine projects and their after-sales support. Red Wind will also lead the localization program in Russia, contracting and providing qualification to the existing suppliers of NovaWind’s production sites in Volgodonsk. The new joint venture already has a pipeline of business with a production program that includes 388 wind turbines to be delivered by 2022 on behalf of energy utility, VetroSGC. Lagerwey will assist Red Wind in training of the personnel, required for the wind turbines’ manufacturing and wind farms’ operation. Lagerwey will supply components for the first 60 wind turbines.
