Simo, the first commercial wind farm equipped with Gamesa 4.5MW wind turbines, has been commissioned in Finland. The company has installed four G128-4.5MW machines for TuuliWatti which are specifically designed to withstand low temperatures.

The 18MW project is part of the framework agreement that Gamesa reached at the end of 2012 with the Finnish company TuuliWatti to supply 135MW. Of these, 123MW have already become firm orders: in addition to the Simo wind farm, 54MW and 36MW of Gamesa 4.5MW turbines will be supplied to the Tornio and Pori wind farms, respectively, and 15MW to the Salo wind farm using 5.0MW turbines. Last year, Gamesa signed a second framework agreement with the Finnish company for the supply of up to 285MW of its 5.0MW turbines.
