GE has acquired Blade Dynamics for an undisclosed sum. Earlier this year, Blade Dynamics started a six-month testing programme of a prototype of its 78 metre D78 blade at the UK's Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult research centre in Blythe.

The testing programme will continue until 2016, in line with contractual obligations with the Energy Technologies Institute. Once that contract finishes, the Blade Dynamics team has no other ongoing commitments, and moving forward all Blade Dynamics technology will fall under the GE umbrella.
