Friday, 08 September 2006
Econergy International, the clean energy and carbon developer, has announced that the board of Instituto Costaricense de Electricidad (ICE), a government owned electric utility of Costa Rica, has voted to award Econergy and its partners a 20 year contract to build, own, operate and transfer a 49.5MW wind energy project, Proyecto Eolico Guanacaste, in Costa Rica.

Econergy’s investment in this project is expected to be approximately US$12 million. The Proyecto Eolico Guanacaste wind park will have 55 turbines and construction is expected to begin in March 2007 and be completed by March 2008. ICE will purchase power generated by the wind park at US$0.0974/kWh during the high season (January – May) and 40% of this price during the low season (July – December).
