Vestas receives an order for 15 turbines in Turkey Print E-mail
Tuesday, 29 August 2006
Vestas has received an order for delivery of 15 units of the V80-2.0 MW turbine in Turkey for the Sabenova project.

The order comprises supply, installation and commissioning of the wind power plant. Delivery will take place during the first half of 2007. The order has been placed by the Turkish company Aksa Group, leader in energy production and manufacturing of gas and diesel electric generators. In June, the same client placed an order with Vestas for the Karakurt project consisting of 6 units of the V90-1.8 MW wind turbine for delivery in Turkey. Power production in Turkey is generated mostly through thermal plants and the country is strongly dependent on the import of gas. Therefore, in order to meet the growing energy demand, Turkey has to exploit new energy sources, such as wind. According to Wind Force 2005/European Commission Study, Turkey has a wind potential of 88,000 MW which is the second most powerful wind area in the European area after the UK.
